6th Gen ZL-1 and CTS-V3 conversions

Yes those massive 390mm / 15.35 rotors and those Huge 6 piston calipers.  These brakes command respect, the shear mass of the rotor and caliper dominate the poor little 3rd gen spindle.  Staying current has always been a trait to keep new business flowing and I have to admit, I’ve had these brakes sitting here for a while now. Not that I hadn’t tried swapping them onto all the common spindle set ups I do but I kind of zeroed in on the 3rd gen first and after several attempts to graft them in with all the usual mods- I came up short.   I’d pull them out every now and then and try a new idea and like past attempts decide that the necessary mods are too extensive or involved.   I try to make these brakes fit vintage era spindles as simply as possible and that had not happened until today.  Sometimes the easiest answer is starring you right in the face the whole time and you can’t see the forest for the trees.

So with the solution in hand now I can safely say this one is conquered. And I can make it fit all the other spindles too..

G-Body/S-10, Blazer 98-05, Tall spindles 1970-96, Short spindles 1964-72 will all work with some very small changes to the bracket thickness or placement.  The two-piece rotor hats will still need to have the center bore expanded to fit the old 2.78 registers but aside from that and a bracket these will be a bolt on!

  1. Yes it’s good that somebody else has finally done a C7 set up. For nobody to not be interested in these brembo’s mounted onto our classic cars is not a fan of, nor do they respect these calipers. My only draw back on these, although I love them, is the spindle choice. On first glance you’d think it was the bext choice, but, as CPP states, these spindles use the stock GM designed geometry nor do they make them in 2in drop form either. I have a set of these calipers and made my own brackets for the C7 brembo swap on the gm tall spindle.

“If you want to make any other changes to your steering or suspension, you can consider the CS spindle to be the same geometry as the OE spindle,” Danny said.

This last statement is quoted from chevyhardcore.com web site.
